Ran a one shot where the entire thing was a puzzle. And it was to remind my players to do self care lol
As a guy that just wants to play a necromancer wizard, my teammates using silvery barbs has actually been driving me crazy
9:00 5 - stands up and breaks chair over DMs face, knocking them unconscious "he said I had to act out my intimidation, maybe he'll rethink that rule when they regain consciousness"
I would love , an entire "just jackob" campaign. it must star the Garlic Bread cleric 😂
Jesus loves you Isaiah 41:10 Romans 3:23-24 John 3:16-17 Romans 8:35-39 Luke 23:42-43 Zephaniah 3:17
All jokes aside if you actually get a group of really chill people (who are totally taking the piss of course) this would be an absolute joke playthrough that i feel would be awesome to play. And it could be absolutely freaking hilarious with the ending just being like one of the players being like, jokingly, 'yo this sucks' and everyone just leaving.
Just thinking from the thumbnail: If you have a setting more grounded and realistic than traditional dnd, having attacks of opportunity on spell casting isnt a bad idea, particularly if it requires you to use components or a focus. Think of spell casting in Dark Souls; if you start casting a spell and your enemy is already in melee range, you're defenseless. It gives wizards a reason to carry a melee weapon like a sword... Basically, to be Gandalf
The DM in this case is shittier than the wizard is.
My personal "chapter ender" is very similar to the description at the end of the video. I not only make sure everyone gets to do something epic, but the final push to defeat the big baddie is a coordinated group strike, like something youd see in a superhero cross over movie. The ultimate full party 1-punch to send their foes back to their makers is always fun to slowly hype up the end of small journey during a long campaign.
Baby of Darkness? You mean Saibamen
The 3 years one was like a full homebrew world game.
Tavern Brawler makes the player have Alcoholism Sense. He can detect the booze, he can smell it.
Freaking masterpiece)
In the beginning of my campaign, my friend got a bunch of new foliage for our dnd games, one of which was a model of a stump...well i made a mistake and said stump made it onto the path...and during the session, i was like **** it, we keep it. They came up to it and spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out what was special about this stump in the middle of the road...i couldnt help but laugh. One of them turned to me, and said, "Is this just a regular stump" Like completely unintentional, but so funny.
Lmao casting shatter every time you dash is WILD
Cosigning the Shayne Topp love ♥reddit stories on Smosh Pit always hits the spot
While Pippin is a DMPC, Merry is the DMs roommate that everyone’s chill with and just sits in the back smoking weed every session. He only ever participates when its time to do something funny or he randomly pulls a crazy good storyline with the NPCs out of his ass
So since his spell saves are a DC of 1, a raging zealot barbarian can kill the old god of the nine hells. All that damage and it doesn't matter lol.
11:30 To be fair, he rolled, he saw that this is just a bunch of usual non magic coins do what you want with them, not a trap xD I mean, nat 20 on ability checks is not an auto succes, and if a check required 20 to pass, someone with -1 or lower mod would've still failed. For me and the guys I played with, nat 20 means that you either "failed but not so bad" or "succeed with some lil' bonus" But I think this things should be said at session 0
Timing turns is shit for spellcasters as mentionned. As a Ranger, if I cast Hunter's mark, it's not so bad, but when I start going into higher levels with more and more options added through levels on my character, plus with Weapon Masteries being added, which I need to remember everything from effects to saving throws and let the DM roll and etc. It adds up and you should suck it up. Don't want a campaign where characters have 15 levels of spells and options? Then make your campaign level 1 through 5. It's not my fault as a player that the DM can't manage themselves.
The underwater vampires were legit in Vampire: the Masquerade, a game from the 90s. Mariner Gangrel. I wonder when we'll see the Head of Vecna come up. I do remember Rime of the Frostmaiden. We were surprised by Auril searching her lair, the party flees, I stay behind to cover their escape. Win the fight, kill Auril twice, then decided I'd better run away so we could experience the rest of the adventure. Because "my character realized her final form was too powerful." Man, Wizards needed to put her on a training regimen, send her out to kill some giant rats or something, cause she was underlevelled for her power level.
it may be mad, but we are missing the entire context here. i dont know the kind of players they are playing with. i would never agree to that whole list but some sections like be on time, dont be intoxicated etc. read fairly normally. anyway, this group certainly is not working so dont play.
"How many times do you want to break 4th wall?" "YES."
3:36 it's more about too low time. Minute may be not enough for some turns physically. 3-5 minutes is ok, then you still have motivation to think about your turn before, but you have enough time to change your plan in case of anything and you have enough time to cast everything you want. Also it'd probably be better to still allow defencive actions and movement with leftovers when the time runs out.
Also there should be some exceptions with spells like wish or smth.
4:56 this one is like "If your party wants even harder fights then there already are then get ready, I'm not gonna change scenario if your party can't revive you and I don't wanna waste my time.". I see how it may be ok, but in general that's awful idea.
DM: creates challenging boss fight for 4 players probably gets to make it a little more dangerous than usual because it’s the last session. 1 of them just doesn’t fight. Players lose fight cause they’re down a man. Good ol Tywin Lannister: AHA so you were railroading
It took me a moment to realize the sponsor wasn't parody.
If your rule is "You have to act out intimidation checks" I do not want to see you cry if I get up from my chair and grab you by the throat. This is what you wanted, right?
(Spam the 4 key while watching the video for the desired effect) Jacob when he sees Zariel:
Half of Lord of the Rings Fun Facts are about how Viggo Mortensen is the perfect human being, and I love it.
you have to be careful with the "just give them a lot of health" mentality. i had 4 power gamers in my session who, at level 5, were averaging a total of almost 200 damage per round if they focus fired. i was half way through making a boss that had 400 hit points and could self revive to full health 3 times during the fight when i realized how absurd a 1600 hp boss was. instead i just made her immune to all damage until they solved a puzzle mid combat.
you good?
This loser sooking about getting stunned but wait until the monsters can't be stunned.
So why was he chasing a squirrel in the first place? Did it steal his granola bar or something?
This video came up in the same search as the feat "crossbow expert" and I thought for sure it was gonna have: "Yes you can dual wield hand crossbows" at some point in it. Loved this skit still bummed I can't dual wield.
They would hear the hammering.
This whole stream is a great guide of what not to do. I am glad I am watching this before I get the game which should arrive next month.
the alcohol is for me. So that I may finally play as my one true fallout character Mean Green Jebediah Andrews. The moonshine Mutant who left the master after finding the glory of alcohol.
I actually made a similar d6 tabletop system many years ago that used action points based on an Agility Score. The problem with this design, is that agility becomes the primary stat for every character build. Everyone wants more actions per turn.
yo i love this
I expected a funny skit about conflicting playstyles; instead I watched a man script, perform, film, and edit his own metanarrative-induced existential crisis.
12:05 *HOW ARE YOU A ROGUE WITH A +1 IN PERCEPTION!*
So I time my player but I do it silently if the make it past 5 minutes I'll start stepping in to help and see where they've got hung up
DMs who use real world accents are bitches. i come up with a funny and or cool vioice on the spot
The one thing I’ll agree with is tell me what ur doing before u roll. In a check, I would have let it pass regardless of a roll but u went ahead rolled a nat 1
The siren part made me think of 'reverses your sex' trap and the 'teleports you out naked' traps differently
Deterministic play is actually kinda fun... it rewards a clever table.
How to play monsters, please bring it back.
My PC is a combination between the Wizard (they have 18 levels in wizard, evocation), and the golem (two levels in fighter, heavy armor proficiency)
I was involved in a campaign once with 2 gm's that was actually really good. One was a very analytical minded, numbers guy. He could put together a fight and hit all the rules like nobody's business. The other was a super creative artist. He handled the narrative. It legitimately went really well. It helped that neither of them were big ego guys so they had no problem sharing the game.
Flanking is important for helping melee builds be more effective
